TV dementia

NewsmaxStudy: Too Much TV, But Not Computer Screens, Increases Dementia Risk

"Older adults who get a lot of "screen time" may have an increased risk of developing dementia — but a lot depends on what type of screen they use, a new study suggests.

Researchers found that among older British adults, those who spent a lot of time watching TV were more likely to be diagnosed with dementia in coming years. In fact, even among older adults who regularly exercised, those who spent more time watching TV had a higher dementia risk than those who reported little TV time."

My response:

Besides causing dementia, watching tv may make you stupid too. At any age.

Regarding dementia via tv maybe the dementia is caused not by watching tv but by watching stupid l-o-u-s-y programs on tv. I don't know about Britain but in the US there are way too many dumb programs and way too few tv programs worth watching. The stupid bad tv shows definitely do not stimulate the brain. Duh. Not to mention suffering through the current 1 out of 4 minutes of ads per prime time hour. Not to mention that American tv only gives us 10 new episodes per season these days, down from the old days of 20-24 episodes. With few exceptions, TV in America sucks. All of it; network and streaming and premium tv all suck.
