bank security sucks

OK, bank. You f-ing suck! OK, technology, you suck too!

Here's why

30 minutes ago I went online to access my checking account. Before it would let me access the account it stated that it had to send me a security code. I chose that the code be sent via text to my cell phone. I waited to receive the code.

5 minutes later I was still waiting.

I requested that the bank send another code, same way, same phone (which was working fine). I waited. No code.

I waited 15 minutes and did it again, tried to access my bank account again, requested the MANDATORY f-ing  security code via cell phone. Nothing. Zip. Nada.

I could not access my bank account.

I waited another 15 minutes and tried it a 4th time. Nothing. NO text. No code. No online bank account access.

Hey, Bank of America, because of a epic online tech fail on your end (or at my cell phone provider Verizon) I can't access my bank account! I can't view my own funds or do any online banking at your bank. In the name of online security you are preventing my lawful access to my own account and MY money

These days everywhere I go online where I already have an account I am not allowed to login before being forced to "verify" my identity by choosing a text or phone call containing a special code. This is intrusive and a pain in the ass. Yes, I understand that technology wants to make my account more secure but do verification codes really improve security? Hackers are still hacking. While I am being annoyed and inconvenienced being forced to take yet another step to verify my account.

It gets worse.

Many times I cannot get the code by text. According to my conversation with Paypal,  Verizon apparently has f-ed up and does not recognize many of the code generators and will not send the text. I do not know if that also applies to getting a verification code by email.

As for getting the code by text or phone call that means I have to get up, go get my phone across the room, walk back to my desk and return the phone to the other side of the room when I'm done entering the code. Yes, as a Creative I do not allow my cell phone to interrupt my artistic pursuits and do not keep my cell phone next to me at all times 24/7.

Hey, tech wizards, find an easier quicker more convenient way to safeguard and verify our account online and account info. Maybe recognize our device? Duh. And, no, don't use that to spy on us or track where we go. And, no, I'm not submitting to an online retina scan. Or an anal probe.
